My Happy Place: Patio and Pergola Updates for 2020
With the arrival of June comes the arrival of summer—sitting out on the patio under the pergola with a glass of wine, gardening, harvesting herbs, and grilling. In the summer, being in my backyard is always my happy place and where I love to be most of all. I generally keep the area under my patio and pergola the same, but I do update every year with a few new things to freshen it up, especially as some items have seen their time through multiple summers.
I have always liked a pop of red in my backyard, especially with the umbrellas on the stone patio. I have tried different colors, but I always end up coming back to using the red and try to carry that over to the colors underneath the pergola.
This year, I decided to integrate Americana colors with mostly red and blue. I always wanted to try an outdoor rug, and this fabulous one from Big Lots fit my color theme and was super affordable. I also felt that this one could last a couple summers with the colors. To finish it off, I picked up these solid blue cushions from Target that had more a modern feel with the cut and fabric. I generally get a pattern but wanted it to not be too busy with the rug. I like the simplicity of the colors and cut. What do you think?
I also kept my best selling LED umbrellas and think I can get another summer season out of them, although I think I’ll have to replace next year. I always do lighting under the pergola and upgraded my globe lights to Edison bulb lights. I have had these up a couple weeks already with no issue.
I kept my high top bistro table that I picked up from Wal-Mart a couple years ago, and it continues to be my favorite spot to eat. With the addition of this little potted basket, a unique find, and a new hummingbird feeder from QVC, I’m set to go!
