Creating a Easter Decor Vignette
One of my favorite things to do every season is to swap my home decor out to match the season and/or holiday. Any time the weather changes or we change over to a new season, I am always so ready for a fresh change in scenery around the house. As we transition from winter to spring, this is especially the case, as I’m ready to ditch the dark shades and bring some fresh colors and natural elements to my home.
If you have been following along and reading my blog, I always enjoy creating vignettes on my tables around the house. This is especially seen on my coffee table, kitchen table, and dining room table. It is a great opportunity to be a little creative with different decorative items and find unique items to create a look that represents the time of year as well as your personality and overall sense of home decor.
Some of my favorite ways to create a vignette:
Start with a decorative tray, Lazy Susan, Cakestand, or tiered tray
I also love to use wreaths as a centerpiece with a stand, tray, charger, and some decorative items. A candle also works wonderfully (real or faux!)
A few items I always start with to create the vignette include:
A source of light (I love using battery operated candles or a lantern). In my one vignette, I used light-up Easter eggs
Faux plants, flowers, greenery, or succulents (I love having a sense of something living)
Decorative items for the holiday or season, including decorative items (see photos with decorative Easter Bunnies and apothecary jar filled with Easter eggs) or even signage (See “He is Risen” wood sign). I often use my “Gather’ sign as well.
Unique antiques and/or vintage items always do the trick (I am known for using milk glass or mid-century glass in my vignettes)
I also like to use books to create height and a need for stacking
Spheres or Jacks are great to utilize
If possible, I try to use an odd number of objects to decorate on the tray
I often use and re-use pieces on the same vignette. For example, I may use the same lighting, vases, and books but simply change up the decorative item or greenery. I may also re-use items in different areas of the house. This is a great way to change it up without investing a ton of money in new decor every season!
I love shopping Amazon Home, TJ Maxx, Target, Old Time Pottery, and Big Lots for affordable decor finds. I also frequent estate sales and local online auctions for many of my unique vintage items!
These are general principles I abide by, although I tend to change it up and integrate new or different ideas every season, especially if I find a fun, decorative item I want to use OR see some inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest.
As I mentioned above, I love to use and re-use decorative items.so many of my favorite decorative pieces are no longer available, but I did link up some similar finds!
