JustFab and ShoeDazzle: Is It Worth It?
As many of you know, especially if you have followed me for some time, that I am a shoe and boot lover! Although I love basic black heels (as they are often a go-to for me), I also absolutely love integrating fun, different, and unique shoes and boots to my wardrobe to create a variety of different looks. At times, the SHOE is the main part of the outfit!
As I began to purchase more and more shoes, I couldn’t believe the prices of some! Although I do not mind spending money on a good, quality pair that will last for many seasons and years, it just didn’t make sense to me to spend over $100 on a pair of trendy shoes that I may only wear for a season (and if you know me, I don’t like repeating outfits if I can help it!). At times, there are also pairs that I wear a TON and they often get “worn out,” especially during the winter months. I didn’t want to spend too much on a pair of shoes that would end up getting ruined from the wet snow and salty sidewalks of Northeast Ohio regardless of how well they are made.
Along came Shoedazzle and Just Fab. Shoedazzle started first, and if I recall, it was mainly a Kim Kardashian company at the time. I’m not sure if she still owns it, but I loved the idea of wearing shoes chosen by Kim! I immediately joined and have been a member since 2009! A few years later, JustFab came around. I saw a pair of shoes that I really wanted. With joining, I basically got a free pair of shoes at the time! Of course I would join for a free pair of shoes! So I’ve been a member with JustFab since then.
With my history, you could imagine my excitement when JustFab reached out to me to be part of their boot campaign this holiday season. Although I was gifted with two pairs of boots for an Instagram post, this blog post is not sponsored. Since I recently had many questions about my Shoedazzle and JustFab boots (especially my lace-up brown ones) and how the services work, I figured this blog post was very timely! So keep reading to learn how the services work and why I have chosen to use the Shoedazzle and JustFab Membership!
HOW IT WORKS
So both services work pretty much the same:
When you become a “VIP Member” for either service, you have the option to “opt in” for the month for a new pair of shoes OR you can skip the month. The monthly fee is $39.95, which is the average cost of most shoes on the site. At times, I have found shoes for $29.95 all the way up to the $60-70 range, depending on what it is. This does not include their super major end of season sales and clearance, where I have purchased shoes as cheap as $5. You get free shipping with a $39.95 purchase (the monthly fee).
Each month starts on the first of the month, and you have until the 5th of the month to “skip.” If you do not skip, you will be charged. So, when you become a member, there is no obligation to purchase every month, and you can skip as often as you like. There have been times where I have skipped 6-7 months in a row! The only downside is that you have to remember to skip. I’m usually prompted to do this, as both companies send an email out on the first with monthly shoe picks based on your personal preferences. In addition, I get paid around that time, so it is part of my routine. You can also set a reminder in your phone calendar to skip if needed.
If you forget to skip, you still can get the refund (but I wouldn’t do it too many times). I only did this once where I wanted to get my money back. I was able to get refunds through both companies. I was able to easily get it through JustFab but needed to go back and forth with ShoeDazzle but ended up getting it anyways. I would caution on doing this though, as every person’s experience could be different. I had been a member of both for years without having to ask for a refund, so I may have been gifted it. After that one time, I really make an effort to remember to “skip.”
So obviously, the primary con is having to remember to skip the month. This is like with any subscription service though, so it does not bother me all that much. I generally remember to do so every month (except for the one time), and I think it’s worth it to get great prices on shoes!
I usually skip the month every month. If I do decide to purchase something later on, I can still do so, even if I skipped. I’m just not paying the fee right away at that time. This gives me time to shop around and decide, so I’m not committed to either service right away. Although I love both services, I also love DSW and other places to purchase shoes, so if I’m in the market for something specific, this gives me time to shop. Many times (as you can see from my posts) I come back to this service!
Because they are sister companies, there is some overlap with the items (they may sell the same thing on both sites); however, I will tell you that most of the items are different!
You do NOT have to be a VIP member to purchase from Shoedazzle or JustFab. You can purchase at any time—you just won’t get the fabulous deals.
WHY I HAVE USED THE SERVICE FOR YEARS!
As you can tell from the description above, one of the main reasons I use Shoedazzle and JustFab is because of the price. With the amount I like to shop, there is just no way I can afford to purchase the amount of shoes I own at the high prices you see at some department stores. Although Shoedazzle and JustFab may not be THE cheapest option, they are pretty affordable for the quality you get! I would prefer purchasing a cute pair of boots for $45 as compared to prices above $100.
I also LOVE the selection. There is a style for everyone. Obviously, I like my heels and boots, but they carry flats, low heels, riding boots, sneakers, and even slippers. You can even find out of seasonal items, like sandals, during the winter months if you are in need of finding a pair for a trip to a warmer climate. If I’m looking for a shoe or boot in a unique color, I often first search JustFab and Shoedazzle, as I can guarantee I’ll find what I’m looking for.
I have never really had an issue with fit or sizing. I will admit that I’m a pretty true 7.5, and with that, most 7.5 shoes fit me with no issue. I’ve never had an issue with a shoe from either of these companies due to fit and have never had to return for that reason.
The quality of the shoes is great! Although some of the materials may not be as high of quality as more expensive shoes, the naked eye definitely cannot tell. I also do not notice a difference in the quality of the shoes when it comes to wear. They wear the same as many other expensive brands!
They are comfortable, and I’ve never had issues with this! Keep in mind though, my feet can handle a lot!
