As you probably have noticed from my blog, I absolutely love jewelry and have a ton of it!  I wear everything from necklaces to rings to bracelets to earrings.  I definitely embraced the statement necklace trend, as you can also probably tell from my outfit posts.  Although I wear a variety of different necklaces, statement necklaces are most common on my rotation.  So when I had the opportunity to try some fabulous, delicate layering necklaces from 6th Borough Boutique, an online boutique, I was super excited to try out something new and integrate it into my wardrobe!

When I received my package, I had a beautiful "K" initial necklace in gold, along with three layer necklaces:  A gold tone dainty layering necklace with a turquoise stone, a gold tone dainty layering necklace with a black onyx stone, and a gold signature lariat.  I was in love with all the pieces!  I was impressed that two of my dainty necklaces had real stone, I am seeing so many lariat trends lately, and who doesn't love a unique monogram necklace!  With these types of necklaces, the layering options you can create are endless!  At first, I thought that I had to layer three of the necklaces, but after more experimenting, I found that some of my favorite looks were using only one or two of these!

I have not even experimented fully with all the different looks and options I can make with these four necklaces.  I think these will look even more awesome in the summer when I begin to wear lighter tees and tanks that look great with a basic necklace or a layered necklace look.  I also love how these simple necklaces are great to pair with athleisure or a casual, at home outfit and also look great layered with a blouse and blazer at work.  Keep on reading to learn more about my thoughts on these and ideas to style your layering necklace.  All items I have from 6th Borough Boutique are linked up below, as well as some other of my favorite layering options from that store!

1). Do not be afraid to wear one of these necklaces alone

When I received my jewelry, I almost felt that I needed to ALWAYS wear these necklaces together in some sort of layering look.  The more obvious, go-to look would be to wear the monogram necklace to wear alone.  I especially liked how this looked with some of my more casual outfits, where I wanted to wear some sort of jewelry, but a statement necklace would be too much.  The monogram necklace is a great go-to to wear alone and to make it part of your daily rotation.

The monogram was the perfect addition to this simple, at-home leisure look of a cozy, over-sized sweater and leggings.

It was a Sunday errands day. I typically do not even wear jewelry with my athleisure on these days, but the initial necklace on its own was a perfect addition.

So, it seems obvious to wear the initial necklace on its own, but what about the more simple necklaces?  My style is to typically not wear these necklaces alone, but I actually just did that yesterday with this outfit.

With the neckline on this top under my blazer, I generally would not even wear a necklace, as to not to detract from the neckline. However, I thought pairing the dainty black onyx necklace was a perfect way to draw more attention to the neckline!

2). Do not feel pressured to layer all of them together

To go along with my thoughts above, as I mentioned, I thought I would always wear the black onyx, turquoise, and lariat together.  The funny thing is--I haven't even done that yet!  I think that would be a great look, and I have the perfect outfit for it this summer--a basic white tee or fringe tank with all three.  Since spring in CLE has been somewhat chilly with inconsistently warm days, I haven't even had a chance to do that yet.  My most common pairing has been the black onyx with the lariat or the black onyx with the initial necklace.  See my pairings below!

3). Mix it up!

So I may have not layered the obvious ones together, but I have layered three together in one look--the black onyx, the initial, and the lariat.  I loved how this looked with classic suiting, and how it played off the luxe chain blouse I wore.

4). Use your own jewelry to mix in for different looks

Because not every outfit will look good with just these specific pieces, remember to go into your own jewelry box to create new looks.  I integrated the initial necklace with a long chain to dress up and finish off a work outfit.

Tips and Tricks for Layering Your Own Necklaces

Even though these necklaces are often simple, it is not always easy to figure out how to layer the necklaces and pull off this look.  Here are some tips and tricks that I learned through styling these necklaces!

1). Be sure at least one or two of the necklaces you are layering can be adjustable.  This is a must in order to create the look.  This may seem obvious, but if you are shopping, this might not be something you think of in the moment and why purchase something that will not work for the look you are going for?!  In addition, if you are attempting to create this look from older pieces of jewelry, this may not be possible.  If your necklaces do not have this option, you can always add an extender.

2). Use your own jewelry!  Chances are that you have collected and kept some necklaces over the years that are dainty and delicate.  With some of the statement trends, I know these pieces have often been pushed aside.  This is a great opportunity to wear something that you have not worn in awhile or a piece that may be sentimental.  For example, I have a Key necklace from my mom that I have not worn in awhile that would look very pretty layered with some simple silver necklaces.  I also have some older pieces (from years ago!) that I have kept that may be fun to break out again to create some different jewelry looks.

3). If you want to create this look, be sure to buy some foundational layering necklaces.  Although you may have some great pieces in your own jewelry box, in order to fully create the look and bring it into 2018, you may need some of the basic pieces to pull it all together.

Below, I have linked up the layering pieces I'm wearing in these photos, as well as some of my other favorite picks from 6th Borough Boutique below!
