My Experience with the B3 Conditioning Treatment for Winter

Hey guys! I am finally getting to post this blog post almost (not quite) a year later! When I had written it, we were just heading into the pandemic and shut-downs. When I was ready to post it, no one was able to get their hair done! So I am sharing my experience from the beginning (last January) and updating with how I feel about the treatment now! Please note, this is not sponsored—I just liked the experience and treatment so much, I wanted to share with you guys! That is part of what I do too!

JANUARY 2020

I always have felt that I was fortunate to have nice hair that stayed healthy, despite heat styling and lots of blonde hair color and highlights. I have fine hair, but it is thicker, which helps. It is stick straight and tends to have lots of shine. However, over the past year or so, I just found that the health my hair just wasn’t quite what it used to be. The side layers were starting to get a little fine and thin, and I could just not grow them out longer, as they kept breaking up the side. My hair was growing, but because some of the finer layers were breaking and not keeping up, my hair just did not have the thickness within the length it used to.

I had tried so many things—coffee with biotin and collagen (which does work and is still part of my daily routine—you can buy some here), new hair styling products, and masks. While I was seeing some improvement, I was still not quite getting the results I wanted at the rate I wanted. Plus, so many of the deep conditioning masks left my hair feeling flat, lifeless, and stringy.

After continually lamenting to my hair dresser that my hair was just not what it used to be and not finding the quick results, she suggested that I try the B3 hair conditioning treatment. She shared that it would deep condition my hair, seal the cuticle, bring shine, all while making it a nice texture and not letting it feel too flat or lifeless. This sounded exactly like what I needed, so we agreed that we would do the process halfway in between my hair coloring and cut appointments and after the holidays. I scheduled it for one evening after work and was so excited to try it!

I got the process done at Dana Lauren Salon & Spa in Broadview Heights, Ohio, which is right up the street from my house! This treatment is a speciality salon treatment. While I’m sure you could probably buy the product and do it on your own, I think having my hairdresser apply it all over with a brush and having access to a professional seated dryer was key. My appointment was at 6:00 PM, and I was on the road on my way home at 7:00 PM. The treatment is applied with a brush all over the hair, very similar to what we would be done when coloring the hair. After applying it, I had to sit under a hot dryer for about 20 minutes. Once that was done, the treatment was rinsed out. In order for me to see the true effects of the treatment, she did not put any product in hit and just blew dry it with a brush!

I was initially impressed with the texture of my hair, as it felt so good, smooth, and was super shiny—just how my hair had been all of those years! I could also immediately tell the difference in the layers in the front—they did not look dry and the cuticle was sealed. I liked that my hair did not have the same look or feel like it has had in the past with other hair masks, but I will admit it was a tad softer than what I was typically used to, but it did have body and volume!

I slightly struggled styling my hair the next day, as it was completely fresh from the treatment and had no hair product in it; however, it had body which did help. After about 3 -4 washes, I really liked my hair. It was not as soft as it was initially after the treatment but was still full of body and was super shiny and with a sealed cuticle. This is what I loved about my hair in the past, and it was back!

The treatment is supposed to last about 12 washes. At this point in time, I am almost 2 weeks out from the treatment and am about to go on my fifth wash. I am still seeing the benefits of the treatment. Although the first couple days my hair was super soft, I loved the effects of the treatment on my hair health and think this will make the difference in getting my hair back to the condition I want.

At Dana Lauren Salon & Spa in Broadview Heights, it only $30 to do the treatment, which I think is a deal and super affordable. You definitely do not need to have a ton of money to invest in this treatment which will make your hair super healthy. The best part about it is that it is great for all hair types. I have fine yet thick hair and loved the results. Other individuals who have had it done at the salon have had coarse, curly hair (which was great for straightening) or even short, silver hair (which helped give the coarse hair a smoother texture).

NOVEMBER 2020 UPDATE

Nearly a year later, I am STILL getting my B3 treatments and raving about them! I have continued to get the B3 treatment in my highlights and go in between colors (about 4 weeks in) to keep my hair healthy and like new after everything starts to grow out a bit. I think that this has made the biggest difference in my overall hair health. One of the best things I did prior to the shutdowns was get a b3 treatment in March (the week when everything closed!), and this made my hair last as well as it did until I was able to get a full hair appointment at the end of May! Although my color was grown out, my overall hair health was good, making my hair more manageable during quarantine.

The price at my salon is still the same at $30, and I still highly commend this treatment a year later!
